The Anthem in Washington, DC, witnessed an electrifying night on August 1, 2024, as The Struts with Barns Courtney set the stage ablaze with their high-energy performances. This concert was a testament to the unyielding spirit of rock and roll, with both acts delivering unforgettable shows.

Barns Courtney, making a triumphant return with his full band after several stripped-back sets, opened the night. Accompanied by four talented musicians, including the remarkable Andrew Berkeley Martin on guitar, Barns delivered a performance that was nothing short of explosive. The energy in the room was palpable as Barns engaged with the crowd, crowd-surfing and climbing onto the speakers to interact with fans at the barricade. His set was a thrilling rollercoaster, blending raw energy with charismatic showmanship.

Following Barns Courtney's dynamic performance, The Struts took the stage and matched the energy, creating a perfect synergy between the two acts. This lineup promises to be a hit as they prepare to co-headline a tour across the UK later this year.

The Struts, known for their flamboyant style and infectious rock anthems, performed a setlist that spanned their entire discography. They kicked off with the lesser-used opener "Roll Up," followed by fan favorites "Fallin' With Me" and "Body Talks." Each song was delivered with the passion and intensity as if it were their final performance.

Frontman Luke Spiller, ever the charismatic leader, took a moment to express his gratitude to the audience, noting their usual performances at the 9:30 Club and their honor to play at The Anthem, another esteemed I.M.P. venue. A poignant highlight of the night was when Luke and guitarist Adam Slack performed "Mary Go Round," illuminated solely by the audience's flashlights—a staple moment in their shows. The energy ramped back up with a solo by drummer Geth Davies, propelling the crowd into a frenzy.

The Struts concluded their set with a three-song encore, ending on a high note with their enduring hit "Could Have Been Me." Luke Spiller's walk through the pit, performing among the fans, encapsulated the night's spirit of connection and celebration.

As The Struts continue their US tour, this performance at The Anthem serves as a shining example of what fans can expect. The tour is about a third of the way through, so make sure to catch this spectacular lineup as they continue to travel across the country.
